After reading blogs for hours I decided to think up something all by myself and post it.
Just finished reading Steve Martin's An Object of Beauty. An interesting snapshot of the art world and all that it contains. It revealed nothing new to me but perhaps was reassuring that nothing has changed these last 30 plus years. One of my first jobs in California was at a very prestigious gallery in San Francisco. I learned the hard way what the art world of gallery owners and collectors was all about. I saw first hand the power of the gallery over the influenced and gullible buyer. Unknown artists would fly in from NYC with their large green orb painted masterpieces. The paintings were sold at high prices to society's best. However, the artists and their wares disappeared quickly into the artist's studio months later, never to be seen again.
Art is an important part of life and I am a true believer. For me, art is the process of taking ideas, thoughts, emotions and cast them out on a canvas or paper. It is as important as the air I breathe and the people I love.
